Here’s some photos of my friend Patti and her most extraordinary calico cat, Canny.
Since I first saw the cat, I’d wanted to photograph it. Even so, my photos can’t quite do justice to that first impression.
I was gob struck. Her markings and coloration are like a cute 60’s hairdo; and the resemblance to a human female face is remarkable. I was sure she must be one of my Buddha emanations.
Patti invited me over for some of her famous sweet potato soup. It was delicious, a perfect celebration of the season. She even served it in a pumpkin! I took the opportunity to take these photos.
I like the photos I took of Patti, too. She has the classical beauty of a Renoir.

Almost lost track of that last comment. I would simply ask TWOH to tell you his story. Perhaps say you’ve seen him at a lot of festivals, and that he must have been at Woodstock. Ask him what bands he’s seen. You should get plenty of interesting material, and you can ask extra questions if a new line of enquiry opens up. Play it by ear. He’ll probably be right chuffed to be on a blog.
I have a Yule present in mind for you that I have to order now. Could you email me your address at riggbeck@gmail.com? Thanks. I think you’ll like it.
Looking forward to pictures of your own beast.

Thank you for the kind words. The cat is a bit of a brat. Let me demonstrate:
Someone who has 6-7 cats & is moving asked me to foster a lovely gentle orange cat for her. Carrotcake is a neutered (part?) Maine Coon cat, and when we tried to introduce him to my home, Canny went ballistic. She resembled something out of a Stephen King book, honestly. So Carrotcake, who quietly put himself under my bed while Canny was ambushing me & Carrot’s mommy, is now exiled to the garage. It’s dry, there are many nooks he can convert into little dens, blankets, and he has a long coat, so it’s not horrible, but I’d like to get him into a home where someone needs a big orange purr machine. His mom will give him up to the right person. She just had him updated on vaccinations, and I can attest that he’s a gentleman about litter box, and affectionate.
I go out twice a day to give him some canned food & half an hour or an hour of attention, and I have a very good session of being appreciated, let me tell you! In spite of having been living on his own (feral from being someone’s cat) when his mom took him in, and wanting to go outside, he never rushes the sticky door when I come or go, trying to push his way out.
If anyone has a potential forever home for him, please contact me through Amy Eighttrack.
This is… modestly urgent, as I will also be moving within December.

Great photos, Amy! I think you did both your subjects justice. Perhaps you should get a beast of your own?

Yes, I have one and will soon post. Thank you. BTW, I occasionally run across “The World’s Oldest Hippie” (from your comment on my ‘Occupy Seattle’ photos). I need more encouragement to interview him – and any suggested questions? You can email me @ FB. Much love to you, friend!

Let me give it some thought. I will be visiting Seattle in a few months to sort out some personal stuff (mental & physical). It will be good to see you again.
